Reading for Change

Posted September, 2023

In past years, our brave students have accepted the Reading for Change – Open-Book Challenge! Reading opens doors to new adventures and new opportunities for a hopeful future. Our goals:

  1. to improve reading readiness skills for the vulnerable students we serve;

  2. to help students develop a life-long love of books, and;

  3. to raise funds to further each child’s education.

In 2023-24, the school has received substantial book donations, thereby meeting our need!

We are looking forward to the beginning of the first full school year at our Grant Street location, starting August 17, 2023.

We relocated to our new location on October 24, 2022 and completed our 2022-23 academic year on Grant Street.

Providence 360 - CVSM Lessons

Posted July, 2023

For the past four years, Providence has partnered with Cumberland Valley School of Music for keyboarding lessons with Mrs. Marie Hershey. In light of the restrictions imposed during the pandemic, we put a pause on these lessons.

There is a possibility that lessons might begin in the 2023-24 academic year. Thank you for your patience and understanding during these uncertain times.

Advancing Science

Posted July, 2023

Providence benefits from the Advancing Science program through Gettysburg College. The college receives our requests for experimental equipment and transports materials to and from our school. Mr. Michael Chase established this collaboration in our school's founding year, and it has been a consistent blessing ever since.

STEAM - Model Railroading

Posted July, 2021

Mr. Tom Clark, Mr. Jack Hull, and Mrs. Barbara Clark, along with our Art teachers Mrs. Fitzpatrick and Mr. Hannaman have developed our innovative STEAM program. The program teaches science, technology,  engineering, art, and mathematics in an application that scales and builds a model community and railroading transportation system. The students learn ratios and other mathematics and engineering concepts, while practicing painting and craft skills in creating beautiful scenery. The work is on display for open house events, particularly Christmas at Providence.
